Sue Hewitt – Springboard Coach
How to run your own personal development course
Helping employees to reach their professional and personal milestones has undisputed business benefits. But too many organisations try to DIY it. They think they can cut costs by buying content online and running their own personal development courses. If you want to deliver a Milecastle programme, here’s what it takes:
First you need to be 100% committed to putting passion and energy into helping people, especially women andolder workers, reach their maximum potential. Your commitment requires total dedication to the cause. Juggling other roles and responsibilities will simply not cut it. Without complete dedication you cannot hope to achieve the ongoing learning and training required. Nor will you have the levels of enthusiasm needed to motivate your audience every day.
Your education will include a degree and research based PhD, plus the relevant and necessary training qualifications and licences. These include Licensed Springboard Trainer, Licensed Spring Forward Trainer, Licensed Fresh Steps Trainer, Holder of Certificate in Training Practice (Distinction), Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Licensed Simplicity Trainer and License to deliver and coach Emotions and Behaviour at Work (EBW) emotional intelligence assessment tool, as well being a trained NLP Master Practitioner. All of which can be yours within just 12 years, for a mere £55,000.
To make sure you have the necessary breadth of experience to work in any organisation you will have delivered training to over 5,000 women. Your industry experience will include local government, finance, civil service, education (further and higher), voluntary sector, retail, publishing and media, licensed trade, hotel and catering, emergency services including police, health service, utilities, agriculture and land based industries, scientific and medical, travel, food and trade unions.
Of course when it comes to running internal courses, an in-depth understanding of business roles and applications is a must. Over the years you will have developed an excellent foundation in business including operations, team development and management, business development, sales and marketing, client relationship management, financial management and budgeting, IT and management information, tender preparation, project management, staff appraisal, mentoring and training.
You will need to keep up to date with the latest training tools and techniques, as well as issues affecting women and older workers. To achieve this you will have developed a strong network over the years, including membership of 20 different business, training and women’s networks. You will also be connected to a whole host of alerting services, news channels, internal mail groups, blogs and web forums.
And finally, you will have the natural talent and ability to create a positive, supportive and fun learning environment and to run structured programmes designed to gain the maximum benefit for every individual in attendance. You will have the skills to encourage interaction and facilitate shared experiences, whilst creating a self-support framework to assist ongoing development.
But if you don’t want to go to that much trouble, or invest thousands of pounds and years of time in training and licences, simply contact Sue Hewitt of Milecastle Consultancy Ltd. She has the commitment, qualifications, training, contacts and experience to deliver results driven personal development programmes of the highest quality.
