Got up at 5.45 and left at 6.45 to drive to Newcastle. Managed to get parked just before 8. Went and had a bacon sandwich for my breakfast before a coaching appointment at 8.30. Then back to my car aka office for a couple of hours for email, a telephone coaching session, rescheduling coaching appointments and talking to a couple of clients. The car park man thinks I am mad! I have an email reminding me my electronic newsletter needs to be written tonight.
At 1pm I seek a sandwich for lunch then its off to deliver a two hour session on Networking for senior administrators at a university client. Catch up with main client contact after that. Creep out of Newcastle in heavy traffic and get home to a gorgeous evening about 15 minutes before a coaching client is due to call. I carry in two boxes of training materials for a course running in a couple of weeks time. These were delivered by courier today and left in the porch, very handy. Just have time to light the fire. When the client is ten minutes late I decide she is not going to call, put together some dinner and head outside into the sun to eat it. The next coaching client does call and by this time I have checked the email and replied to any that need replies.
After that I start to get everything ready for tomorow's couurse, trainer's manual, certificates, eval forms, books for the resource table. I restock all the toner in the printer and set printing a bunch of manuals that I need on Tuesday which will need to be bound by the time I leave home on Sunday afternoon. There is still another session to be written and that will get done on Saturday night then those manuals will have to be printed and bound before I leave on Sunday. I can see that with the time rapidly evaporating I may be taking the binder with me.
I send off details for today's invoices and then a friend calls to confirm a date for a weekend visit. Suddenly its 12.30 and I still have to write the newsletter. Better go and do it then as I need to be up again at horrid o'clock for another day in Newcastle.
This is being busy and self employed. I certainly wouldn't do it for anyone else. How was your day?
