Ask an expert

When you are struggling to make progress it really helps to ask an expert.  It is important for you to recognise when you need that sort of help.  18 months ago, after having new ankle ligaments, getting back to full fitness for a climbing trip to Spain at Easter was my top priority. Waiting for NHS physio care would have taken too long so I paid for a couple of sessions with my own physio.  Ann at Physiofix really set me up well with an excellent training and rehab schedule and was well worth the small cost and time involved.  A small injection of expert knowledge will easily give you a big leap forward.

A friend broke his ankle in a climbing accident earlier this year and we were talking today about the reasons for it healing still slowly and what he needs to do to improve its function. I suggested that this included not just a commitment to exercises, stretching and massage but also daily visualisation about it functioning well and healing to full fitness and an attitude that this is achievable.

He said that I'd given him more help in half an hour than any of the other professionals he has consulted and that it will move him on now really positively towards regaining full fitness.  I am certainly an expert on ankles as I seem to have endured many years of problems, however the added expertise that I offered was addressing his attitude and the mental training that will accelerate his improvement.

So where in your life do you need that injection of expertise to move you forwards?  What issues are seeming too difficult to address? What sort of expert can you consult? When are you going to do that?
