Create it first in your head

As many of you know my ife is pretty busy at the moment.  I have committments to clients here for lots of women's development which keeps me busy (and I absolutely love doing) and then we have heaped on top of that four separate weeks in the Middle East for UN work.  I use my outlook diary print out as a guide for my life - it has everything in it - both work and personal.  I told you the other day about how I was writing in some climbing weekends.

I had been concerned that there was very little work in August and I had very few free dates for new work in June and July. August is generally a quiet time for training so its not unusual.  However as I am on holiday for a lot of July I'd like to have some dates in for August.  So a few days ago I started to create those days in my head.  I thought about seeing my diary with days coloured in brightly to indicate what I was doing and I imagined being on the train to London.

Today I had a phone call from a client who needed to cancel 4 days work in June and rescedule it in August.  Some of the work is in London so I will be going down by train.  So in one phone call I have achieved what I have been visualising over the past few days - free time in June and work scheduled in for August.

Everything is first created in our  heads.  Focus on what you want and you can make it happen.

We must be careful though, if things don't happen despite our visualisation it is important to understand that visulatisation still works it's just that we are not meant to have whatever its at this moment.
We are all hear as spiritual beings to experience living in a physical body. On the spiritual plane to think something is to have it happen. On the physical plane things dont work that way, matter has to be taken into account so things don't happen immediatly they have to be made to happen.
We can improve our ability to creat things in our heads by meditation. This can take many forms but one which I use in our aikido classes is guided visualisation, where someone describes a mental image and you try and recreate the image in as much detail as you can. One of my favourites I made up on the beach in Barcelona after a spring climbing trip. It goes like this:
Imagine you are sitting on a beach, there is noone on the beach but you, in front of you is the sea. Become aware that the waves are moving in time to your breathing, as you breath in see the waves breaking gently on the beach, as you breath out see the water running back down the beach. In and out, up and down. Feel the calmness of your breathing filling you up, feel the movement of the sea, hear the waves breaking in time to your breathing, smell the salty air...
and so on.
